Laser dentistry offers an innovative alternative to common dental procedures, using focused energy in the form of light. This tool can comfortably cut or vaporize tissue typically resulting in patients experiencing less discomfort after procedures. In many cases, this type of dentistry is also faster than using a scalpel or dental handpiece.
Laser dentistry can address a wide range of issues but are most commonly used to remove and re-sculpt gum tissue. We can also perform anesthesia-free cosmetic procedures known as SmoothLase and LipLase with lasers. These types of procedures help diminish the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth and mid face. Lasers can also remove tooth decay often without the use of anesthesia. Other uses for lasers may include reduction of snoring through a procedure known as NightLase, and removal of lesions from the gums, cheeks, palate, and sides of the lips.
We speak with every patient in detail about laser procedures before we begin so you are well informed and prepared with what to expect. During the procedure you will wear special protective glasses specific to the wavelength that the laser is firing.
Laser dentistry is a cutting-edge option that many dentists have not yet implemented, but we are proud to say we have used it in our office for the past 15 years giving us ample experience in this state-of-the-art technology. We carry certification for laser usage from the Academy of Laser Dentistry and our team is fully equipped to answer any questions you may have.
