Do you have teeth that have been discolored due to diet, oral habits, previous dental work, or medication? Or perhaps teeth that have been chipped are poorly aligned or uneven? Porcelain veneers may be the perfect solution. Porcelain veneers are made of thin layers of porcelain that are placed on the surface of your existing teeth to reshape and recolor your smile. Crooked, misshapen, or discolored teeth can be covered by veneers, giving you a beautiful smile again.
To begin the veneer process, you will first receive x-rays and dental impressions. To prepare the surfaces for the veneers, a thin layer of enamel is removed from each tooth. Another impression of the tooth is then made and sent to our lab. We will make your permanent veneers from that impression. You will have temporary, acrylic veneers that look and function as normal teeth until your veneers are ready.
At your last visit, your permanent veneers will be fitted to your teeth and we will check for proper color as well. Your natural teeth will be cleaned and roughened slightly to allow the veneers to adhere to your teeth. Your bite will then be adjusted and any final tweaks will be made.
Porcelain veneers require the same care as your other teeth. You should beware of beverages that can stain your teeth or eating hard, crunchy foods like ice. Your veneers may last a decade or more when cared for properly.
